Past Captain’s Day — Wednesday, June 6

THIRTEEN past lady captains played on a beautiful sunny day with Jill Britton (38pts) winning by three points from runner-up Nancy Bailey.

Baron Rose Bowl — Thursday, June 14

SIX ladies played in this 36-hole foursomes medal team event at Mullion Golf Club.

The Bude girls did really well finishing an impressive 5th out of 18 clubs in quite challenging conditions.

Triangle Cup — Saturday, June 16

BUDE have a strong 37-point lead after the second round with 380 points while Okehampton (343) and Launceston (324) have plenty of work to do.

The final round will be played at Launceston in September.

EG Ping — Sunday, June 17

COLLETTE Burgess and Judith Smith scored an impressive 48 points to win the event.

This magnificent score should enable them to qualify for the finals to be held at Gainsborough Golf Club in Lincolnshire in September.

Stableford — Wednesday, June 20

Winner: Glen Thom — 35pts; Runner Up: Muriel Giles — 29pts

Annodata Golf Classic (third-round) — Wednesday June 20

DEFENDING champions Bude took on Stover Golf Club in the third-round of this national competition and won

4 -1.

A trip to Creigiau Golf Club, which is near Cardiff is the task in the next round.

Bronze Shield — Thursday, June 21

CHRIS Simmons, Glen Thom, Roz Clarke and June Downes combined to win the competition by ten points from Launceston.

The sunny, but very windy conditions made it difficult for the field of 72 players, from the 18 clubs that took part.

Bude swept the board with Simmons also winning the Andrews Bowl for the best scratch score.

Winners: Bude — 237; Runners-up: Launceston — 247; 3rd: Newquay — 249.

Championship/

Handicap Cup — Sunday, June 24

TWELVE ladies played in this event with June Downes (nett 74) winning the 19-29 Handicap Cup.

However it was Collette Burgess (nett 74) who was the star of the show as she won the 0-18 Handicap Cup and was crowned club champion and the winner of the Scratch Cup.

A FUN event for the 18 ladies who took part. A close match but the vice-captain’s team that were the winners on the day.

Ladies Away?Day — Thursday, June 28

A GROUP of ladies of went off to Truro on Thursday, June 28 for their Ladies Away Day where an enjoyable time was had by all.

The competition was a three-ball two scores to count on full handicap.

The winning team were Jackie Whitehorn, Elizabeth Swords and Catherine Slee with a score of 80 four points ahead of Sharon Trafford, Elaine Thomas and Anita Ley on 76, who were three better off than Barbara Murton, Mandy Harvey and Valerie Raine. Nearest the pin was Anita Ley.

Lippiat Salver — Saturday, June 30

THIS competiton was played in a medal format with Sharon Trafford sneaking to victory with a nett score of 70 by a shot from Sarah Ockwell.

All of the top three managed to reduce their handicaps by one shot.

Winner: Sharon Trafford — 70; Runner-up: Sarah Ockwell — 71; 3rd: Alison Wood — 72.

Seniors Section

Away match v Newquay — Monday, June 25

A TEAM of seven pairs of Launceston seniors travelled west to the beautiful links course at Newquay on Monday, June 25 but found it tough going as they were whitewashed.

Nearest the pin prizes were claimed by Terry Brown of Launceston and Kevin Flynn of Newquay.

Away match v The Point at Polzeath — Thursday, June 28

DESPITE two of the visiting team accidentally ending up in Perranporth beforehand, Launceston got back to winning ways in a thriller by four-and-a-half points to three-and-a-half.

The nearest the pin prizes were won by Rolf Carroll from Launceston and Tom Lehman for The Point.

Seniors Guest Day — Tuesday, June 26

THERE was fabulous weather for the club’s first Guest Day which was enjoyed by all those who played. The club hope this becomes a permanent fixture.

Two Castles Club Open competition — Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24

EACH year the club hold an Open Competition along with Okehampton Golf Club where the players play one course per day over the two days.

This year it was Launceston’s turn to host the final day and they had lots of success.
