UPPER Tamar Lake Sailing Club held the Peter Pocock Memorial Trophy Series on Sunday, October 2 and Sunday, October 9.
This is a series run for novice junior helms and is open to any helm, not just club members, provided that they can sail a triangular course.
Nine junior helms took part in bright autumn sunshine. Light variable winds made the races challenging for the youngsters at times with the final placing not being decided until the last race.
It was very close with joint first place going to Raily Graham and Arne Hamer with two firsts and a second place each.
Marlo Graham, Phoebe Murray and Alex Bingham had a tussle in the middle of the fleet whilst the light variable winds meant the beat on the last two races saw Sky Taylor, Ewan Duhig, Callum Duhig and Ben Penny continually changing positions.
A club spokesperson said: “It was a great day at the club where the young sailors got the chance to test themselves out in race conditions and we look forward to seeing them back at Upper Tamar Lake soon to continue their progression in sailing.”
