A CHURCH based in Launceston is celebrating after receiving a cheque for £250 to help cover restoration costs.

Launceston Co-op Funeral Care were proud to present the cheque to St Thomas Church which was applied for through the Co-op community donations procedure.

The money donated will be going towards the costs of the repairs and restoration of the church gates that are used on a daily basis by the local community.

It was reported that Co-op wanted to offer further support as the church regally accommodates for the Funeralcare Bereavement Group sessions.

Katie Willing, Co-op funeral director said: “We are extremely grateful for the support we've had from St Thomas Church, to make these meetings possible and we were delighted to surprise them with this cheque and to help give something back to the community."

Following the cheque presentation, Co-op member pioneer, Gemma Massey, added: "It is brilliant to see how the team at funeral care have been working so closely with St Thomas Church and I know these funds will be greatly appreciated. Katie and the team are now working towards their next fundraiser, their Launceston prize bingo night, which takes place on Friday, April 19, and will help raise yet more funds for the church too!"
