A LAUNCESTON man has pleaded not guilty to assault and weapons charges following incidents that prompted a police response in the town earlier this year.
On April 16, at around 2.10pm, teams of police were called to Prince Philip Road, following a call that a man and a woman had been assaulted in a property in the area.
On arrival at the incident, Devon and Cornwall Police received a report that a man was being assaulted with a bladed weapon in the nearby Newport Industrial Estate.
Police said three people sustained injuries during the reported incidents, which were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing .
Police units, including armed officers, carried out searches and enquiries within the area.
Following the incident, police confirmed the woman arrested in connection to one of the incidents would face no further police action.
Alexander Stewart, of Prince Philip Road, Launceston, pleaded not guilty at Truro Crown Court to charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a woman, possession of an offensive weapon, namely a Stanley knife, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a man.
His trial was listed for October 14 and he was remanded in custody.
