May I congratulate all those members of Launceston in Bloom, Launceston and district u3a and all the local organisations who took part in the recent flower festival at St Mary Magdalene church entitled ”Celebrating the Joy of Flowers”.

What a huge number of creative and artistic people there are in our town.

From the lovely guide leaflet, designed by Angie Harris of u3a, to the nearly 40 entries, the imaginative and creative talent on show in the exhibits was stunning.

Who knew you could make such fantastic displays of flowers from old clothing, yarn, paper and even Lego!

One display featured a bicycle, another was inspired by a stained glass windows evoked by ribbon streamers.

There was even a family of “Blooming Mice” all wearing flowery earrings.

Launceston’s musical groups showed that making music is not their only talent.

What a delightful way to spend time and the cakes were brilliant too.

Too late to see it if you missed it but let us hope everyone involved will consider doing it all again next year.

Cherry Warne,

Launceston
