AS part of Co-op store’s ‘Celebration Day’, Launceston Lions were presented with a cheque for £4,498.80 from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

This was presented by the manager of the Newport Co-op Sam Proctor to Lions president Christine Rowe and club treasurer, Peter Rowe.

Mrs Rowe said: “The club would like to thank the Co-op stores in Launceston for choosing us to be one of the selected causes and would like to thank all the Co-op members who chose us to be a recipient.

“This money will go towards the provision of laptops and tablets for the local primary schools, to give to those children who are in need of these devices.

“This will enable disadvantaged children to keep up with their work when off sick or isolating, or if a class has to isolate. It will also enable them to keep up their computer skills with their peers.”
