AFTER the deluges the week before, nearly the entire local sporting programme went ahead over the weekend which means there’s plenty to get your teeth stuck into in this week’s Post.

On the rugby front, Launceston were brought back down to earth in their final outing before Christmas at Lydney, as they lost 38-15 in Gloucestershire.

Bude were at home in a crucial clash with mid-table Penryn, and the Seasiders grabbed a big four points in their quest for survival in Counties One Western West.

In Counties Cornwall Three there was a good day for Launceston Castles in their quest for promotion.

They beat St Austell Thirds 24-7, and with second-placed Camborne Crusaders losing, they are now just five points behind the Crusaders.

Football wise it’s not often all the Post area clubs win on the same day in SWPL Premier West, but that was the case on Saturday.

Bude Town beat Bodmin Town 3-1, Holsworthy won 1-0 against Dobwalls, Launceston shocked Wadebridge Town 3-1 at Bodieve Park, and Taran Goodright’s goal was enough for Callington to edge past Callington Town 1-0.
