Whalesborough Farm Holiday Cottages and Spa is making strides towards a sustainable future with plans for a new development application to Cornwall County Council. Owned by UK Country Parks, a company committed to environmentally friendly practices, the resort aims to lead the market in eco-friendly holiday park designs while minimising the impact of human activity on the natural surroundings. 

The comprehensive planning application includes several key elements: 

There are plans to move the resort’s existing free-standing wind turbine so it can harness renewable energy more efficiently. This will reduce the luxury resort’s carbon footprint while preserving the natural beauty of the region. 

The project will also involve building an overflow car park, a padel tennis court, and creating an outdoor event space. These will help enhance the visitor experience and provide opportunities for guests to immerse themselves in outdoor activities. 

One of the most exciting aspects of the expansion is the addition of 68 new holiday lodges with accompanying decking. This increase in accommodation will allow a wider range of visitors to enjoy Whalesborough Farm. 

To support these developments, the plans also include an internal roadway, parking facilities, secondary buildings, landscaped amenity areas, drainage systems, and other related works. These components will be designed with a focus on sustainability and the environment. 

Whalesborough Farm Holiday Cottages and Spa's proposed growth will make the resort more attractive whilst also helping the local economy and community. By combining eco-consciousness with great visitor experiences, the resort aims to set the standard for sustainable tourism. 

However, before formally submitting the planning application to Cornwall County Council, UK Country Parks is eager to engage with the local community. On October 11th, they will host a consultation event for Marhamchurch and Poundstock Parish Councillors, as well as members of the public.  

This event will provide a glimpse of the plans for the new scheme and will offer the chance to engage with representatives from UK Country Parks to share your thoughts and views on the proposal.  

The consultation event will take place at The Weir Restaurant in Whalesborough, Bude, on Wednesday 11 October from 16:00 to 20:00.
