Store Cattle
Fleshed forward Stores selling to a slightly lesser trade as expected with the falling of the beef price, however those turnout farming Stores were still looking well sold with lots of those 14-18 month old types selling between £1750-£1850.
A trio of strong South Devon Steers rose to £2080 (21m) sold by Edward Headon of Boscastle, other South Devon Steers being younger at £1870 (17m) for two useful types in from CA Kneebone of Lifton, followed by a great run of young Simmental Steers hitting £1980 (17m) for AP & DJ House of St Issey.
Montbeliarde Steers drew £1910 (24m) in from SJ Uglow & Sons, Limousin Steers attained £1890 (19m) for Edward Headon again, others to £1840 and £1800 (19m) for JR, PM & DW Treleaven of St Austell.
Up next was a trio of Angus Steers which parted at £1860 (25m) for P Coles & Son, a bunch of Blues Steers realised £1840 (21m) for HL Banbury & Son of Wadebridge and 18 month old Charolais Steers raced to £1760 (18m) for KJ & DA Frain of Launceston.
Heifers returned at £1810, £1800, £1760 and £1700 for a run of well fleshed Heifers in from AP & DJ House.
Angus Heifers to £1780 (25m) for JSR Cobbledick, South Devon Heifers to £1780 for RCM Facey, Blue Heifers to £1780 for HL Banbury & Sons and Limousin Heifers drew £1780 for Edward Headon.
Organic Steer sold to £1540 and £1320 for some Herefords in from Woodland Valley Farm.
A run of Cows achieved £2100 & £2080 for some well put together South Devons in from RCM Facey, a Simmental Cow to £2080 for AR Martin and a rangey Friesian to £1440 for OM Francis & Son.
Stirks
Nearly 1000 Stirks sold in three weeks with another large entry today which witnessed a trade of two halves.
Any harder turnout types were sold extremely well, however those softer well fed Stirks selling to a harder trade on the week.
Top of the section today was £1390 (12m) given for a premium pair of Charolais Heifers sold by Jones Trelay LTD, other Charolais Heifers parted at £970 (8m) for a group sold by Tracey Cobbledick of Bude.
Steers rose to £1240 (8m) for a superb group of Blue Steers in from Mark Northcott of St Gennys, who sold others well to £1100 and £1040 (7-8m), further Blues Steers to £1070 and £980 (6-7m) for CW Daniel & Son.
A standout run of Angus traveling up from West Cornwall for Anthony Penrose sold to a fantastic trade and parted at £1170 and £1100, other Angus Steers to £1100 for CW Daniel & Son and £940 (6m) for Trela Farms LTD.
Hereford Steers to £1120 for Anthony Penrose, £1080 (6m) for Trela Farms LTD and £930 (9m) for Tracey Cobbledick.
A Norwegian Red Steer to £1160 (8m) for Trelay Farms LTD, who sold Montbeliard Steers to £990 (6m).
Limousin Steers attained £1110 for Mark Northcott who sold a further pair to £1095 and £885. Angus Heifers drew £985 for Anothony Penrose and £940 (6m) for Trela Farms LTD.
Hereford Heifers to £1060 for Anthony Penrose and £910 for Tracey Cobbledick, followed by Limousin Heifers to £985 and £875 (7m) for Mark Northcott again.
Draft Ewes
A similar entry as last week and again a very strong trade, Texels topped the day at £251 from CA Statton of Bodgall, Launceston.
Charollais to £229 from the Stephens Family of Burscott, Holsworthy. Suffolk x Ewes to £207 from JR Hooper of Lambs Park, St Gennys. Mules to £174 and hill breeds to £134 from two vendors.
Fat Hoggs
A larger entry of 538 and the good meat Hoggs meeting a very strong trade from start to finish selling to a top of 425p for a pen of 44kgs, £187 from Ken and Pat Bird of Crackington Haven.
R & D Woollett of Looe realised 411p for their 45kgs, £185. II Cowling & Sons of Trencreek, St Gennys saw their three pens of 47.7kgs achieve 404p, £192.50. Several heavies £195 and over to a top of £199 from Colin Burrow, Tredown, Welcombe.
New Season Lambs
A small entry but a flying trade and a lot more could have been sold, top per kilo being 492p for a pen of Polled Dorsets 38.6kgs, £190 from Messrs Pearce and Sander of St Neot who also realised 467p for a pen of 36kgs, £168.
The Stephens Family of Burscott, Holsworthy realised 459p for their 41kgs, £188 and top per head was £199 from Colin Burrow of Welcombe.
Couples
A good entry saw a large crowd of prospective buyers in attendance and a very strong trade for all on offer, doubles topped at £430 for Texel x 4T from Mr K Daniel of Trebursye, Launceston, who also topped the Singles at £310 for Texel x 4T.
SJ Kessell of Downs View, Tresparrett Post saw their Charollais x Doubles to £420.
